What to look forDon't know your house sparrow from your dunnock, or your pigeons from your doves? This page will help you identify the most common garden birds, as seen by you during Big Garden Birdwatch 2009.
What was seen in 2009?In 2009, Big Garden Birdwatch was 30 years old. A record-breaking number of you helped us celebrate by counting the birds in your garden and sending us your results. House sparrows topped the list for the sixth year running, while starlings and blackbirds came in second and third. Listen to Sarah Kelly, Big Garden Birdwatch project manager, run through the results from 2009 - there were some old favourites, as well as a few surprises! You can also download the full results below. If you want to hear more about the Big Garden Birdwatch, as well as our wider conservation work, why not take a listen to our monthly podcast?
