As the UK's largest bird of prey, white-tailed eagles have an almost mystical ability to conceal their presence, however, for the ones on the Isle of Skye there is nowhere to hide this summer.

Visit us at the Aros Centre where cameras in the nest give you fantastic bird's eye views of the triumphs and hardships of raising a white-tailed eagle family.

Watch as the young grow from tiny fluffy balls to majestic adolescents taking their first flights.

Depending on the time of year, we hope to also show you the home life of herons, get you inside a sparrowhawk nest, and show you the antics of a family of owls or busy little blue tits.

Pop into the Aros Centre exhibition area and you'll be taken on an audio-visual flight around the island, be wowed by Skye's outstanding scenery, learn more about the human history of the Isle of Skye that is so intertwined with the natural story, and for a limited time only enjoy a celebration of Runrig - Scotland's internationally acclaimed Celtic musical phenomenon.

Entrance to the Aros Centre is free but there is a small charge for the exhibition area: Adult £4.50, concession £3.50, children (13-16 years old) £2.50, family ticket £12, RSPB members £2, children under 12 and carers free. Group rates are available.

Opening times

The centre is open daily throughout the year, 9 am-6 pm.

How to get there

The Aros Centre is just south of Portree on the A87.

Bus routes to and from Portree to south Skye and the mainland pass the door of the centre.
