Binoculars or telescopes available for useRSPB staff on hand to help

Come and watch tufted ducks, be calmed by the graces of mute swans, and get expert fishing tips from patient grey herons and aerodynamic kingfishers.

Experience the amazing wildlife of Hampstead Heath up close through the telescopes and binoculars provided at our viewpoints. Our friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you identify what you see, as well as answer your questions.

So, escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the wonders of nature in the metropolis.

These events are free and fun for all the family. We will be running children's activities with prizes to be won, plus a number of free talks and walks; there is something for everyone.

Opening times

On 27-28 October, our friendly staff and volunteers will be at The Secret Garden viewpoint, 11 am-4 pm, and on 16 December visit us at the Education Centre, 11 am-4 pm.

You can then find us at the Bird Sanctuary pond, on certain weekends November through to February, 10.30 am-3 pm.

How to get there

All events run within Hampstead Heath. Use Highgate road entrance to visit us at The Secret Garden and birding platform at pond number 18 at Parliament Hill. Use Gordon House road entrance for the Education Centre garden.
