TeeJayI think Paint Shop Pro (PSP) and Photoshop Elements (PSE) are very similar in terms of what they can do and price. I have both but generally speaking I use PSE simply because I have put the time and effort into trying to get the best out of it. They both have some fairly sophisticated features but equally they can do the simple things like adjusting brightness, contrast and sharpening with automated keystrokes which don't require you to have any in depth knowledge. However, with all these software packages there is a steep learning curve and there is no substitute for putting in the time to get to grips with them.
Hi TJ
You are absolutely right. I used to have Photoshop but I couldn't practice at it enough to learn to use it easily and it's similar with Paint Shop Pro. I need to upgrade my copy because it is 5 years old (it was still JASC then not Corel) This means I have to buy a completely new product and I don't intend to pay £80 for the latest version of PSP X3. Corel suggested that for my purposes I should consider PSP express which is just a scaled down version like Photoshop elements. However, I will now investigate other possibilities before I part with any money.
Best wishes Chris

Hi everyone,
As far as posting pics goes at the moment, it seems to make no difference what size, width, length, compression, dpi or anything else. Some appear and some don't. It is completely random as far as I can see!!!!!
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Littleowl,
That is a wonderful photo. I have been trying all day to get a decent picture of one of my sparrows and have failed miserably. They won't stay still long enough, and I have plenty of photos of faces peeping from the conifer bushes!! It has been a lovely spring day here, with sun and blue skies, and the sparrows have been particularly noisy. I think they were enjoying the sunshine for once.
Thanks for re-posting this.
