    Hi all, as sparrow says, it is best to use pure fat such as lard or suet for birds cakes. Anything that has been cooked and mixed with the juices from the meat, such as the fat left in a roasting tray, is best avoided. This is because it allows bacteria to breed and can smeer on the birds feathers.
