Re: Tracking Other UK Ospreys

Hi Apumel, You wanted to find out where 'our' ospreys are. Well, at the moment the last information is that Rothes is on the Gironde, roosting (sleeping) at Dr Jones', esturgeon farm, in the trees, near Port Maubert, a very small harbour, which is near St Fort sur Gironde and Mallachie...

Xalbai's Photos of Mallachie
Sue C
On Sunday 6th September 2009, a French birdwatcher and photographer named Didier Domec was out in wetlands by the Nivelle river, near St Jean de Luz on the Basque coast. He had placed his hide near a perch he'd put up a few weeks before, with the aim of photographing ospreys on migration. Right...

Xalbai, all your photographs are very beautiful. My favourite is the one showing Mallachiie's underside, it looks as if she is a tame hawk and she is just about to land on your arm and can only be a metre above your head. But, this is not true of course, she is much higher and your lens has picked...

When we think we have reached the zenith of progress, excitement and good news ... we get even more! Mallachie is motoring - she obviously kept her adventurous side hidden at Loch Garten, but she certainly seems to know what to do now. Photos from Didier have added an extra dimension to our Osprey...

Copied from the Diary...great minds think alike! The migration is well under way, so here is a list of birds to follow, with the latest position as I know it, from websites.....the list may be incomplete, so if you can please help, add any tagged ospreys that we can follow. So far in 2007, 2008...

Mallachie The Day Before She Left
tinker
Aah ! A heart breaking photo which shows Mallachie the day before she left. She was crying but am not sure why ? could have been for food, she had not eaten for almost 2 days, or because WhiteTF was around, & she felt threatened? She cried for hours.. Whatever it was, it was enough to make her leave...

Quelle surprise

Well, you can probably predict the situation. The latest data we have shows - a drum roll, please - Rothes : still in residence near Fontaine, north of Bordeaux Mallachie : still around the nest she calls home. The weather forecast for Aviemore shows high winds and rain coming soon, which will...

The stationary sisters

No, not pens and pencils, but Rothes and Mallachie, neither making any exciting movements as far as we can tell from today's batch of data. Rothes has been mostly sitting by her favourite fishpond. At the Birdfair, Richard spoke to Naomi, the wife of one of the RSPB's directors, who was just...

An atomic osprey

Hello. Mallachie really has made my job as temporary basher-in of data for the map rather easy. She has managed this by not going very far. When I receive the data, I scan through it looking for coordinates different from the norm (there wouldn't be much point in putting in all the identical...

Mallachie's mooching while Rothes roams
Katie Fuller
Well, not a lot new to report today, I'm afraid. Mallachie still hasn't roamed very far from the nest. At 5 am yesterday she went to the shores of Loch Garten again, but the data doesn't show her exploring any further afield as yet. Meanwhile, as of 7 am this morning, Rothes was still...
