Taken from in the water at a local fishing lake, this Great Crested Grebe had a busy day nest building. I returned a few weeks later to discover a male, female, and two chicks, so it was obviously worth the effort.

Thousands of poppies appeared almost overnight in the field near my house. The following day they had all gone as the farmer had ploughed the field. So beautiful, but over too soon.
