Sweatin' for seabirds
Rory Crawford
Hello, This is my a first blog post. A truly momentous day. It is thus only fitting that I commence this post the way that all good blog posts should commence: with a photo of two grown men sweating in bird costumes. One in orange pantaloons, the other in white leggings. Fortunately the photographer...

Hello! Welcome to the new Mull of Galloway blog. This is my first full season as Community Liaison Officer at the Mull. I've been here for two whole months already, but what with keeping tabs on seabirds, swotting up on wild flowers, and the general fun of getting into the swing of a new job, I haven't...

This weekend... enjoy one of nature's great spectacles
Emma
It’s easy to forget that you don’t have to travel halfway around the world, to somewhere like the Serengeti, to see an amazing wildlife spectacle. At this time of year, there is little to rival the raucous clamour of a breeding seabird colony - and the UK plays host to some of the world’s...

We can show you all these and more at our date with nature events - drop-in sessions across the UK that are open to everyone. Find out more and see which dates are happening near you. See you this weekend...

We would like to say a huge thank you to both of these dedicated volunteers...

Last weekend we met some very special people and saw some of our favourite seabirds. The weekend’s organised site visits were arranged to show supporters of our Sea Life Guardian regular giving scheme what we’re doing with their money. The visits were well attended with Sea Life Guardians...

Cruising the Welsh coast
lucinda
'I love going out on the boat at this time of year and talking to people about the brilliant wildlife you can see off the coast of Wales,' enthused Becky Clews, our People Engagement Manager in Wales, when I chatted to her recently about how the Wildlife Island cruises had gone. According...

How was it Forth you?

With our Firth of Forth Seabird Cruises over for another year, I caught up with Angela Newton, Seabird Cruise Co-ordinator, to find out how they went: '2009 has proved to be yet another successful year for our seabird cruises. Over 1,200 passengers joined us onboard the MV Maid of the Forth for...

Puffin good time at Bempton
lucinda
'Wow' and 'amazing' are words often over used, but last Wednesday I couldn't stop them from continually spilling out of my mouth in my excitment at seeing so many seabirds and their fluffy chicks. You see I was at our Bempton Cliffs nature reserve , and was bowled over by the whole...

Having only ever seen one solitary puffin from far away, we went on a boat trip to the Farne Islands this summer - amazing!! You couldn't move for puffins - there were hundreds, along with many terns, shags and guillemots. What a spectacle!
