HV ('Henry')

'Henry' on the nest in 2006The male osprey that had a plastic ring inscribed 'HV' (nicknamed 'Henry') was ringed as a chick in a nest on the Black Isle, just north of Inverness, on 9 July 1998.

Henry had distinctive orange eyes. Young ospreys have orange eyes, but they usually turn yellow as they get older.

For the first time since 2003, Henry didn't turn up at Loch Garten in 2008.
