Loch Garten osprey diary

The ospreys at Loch Garten have people across the world gripped in their tale of violence, adultery and... well... fishing.  More...

White EJ

The female osprey with the white plastic ring inscribed 'EJ' was hatched at a nest in north-east Perthshire in 1997.

Female ospreys have a brown 'bib' which males don't. EJ's forehead also has more brown than those of male birds.

In 2007, EJ was first seen on 4 April; in 2008, she turned up on 26 March, paired with Orange VS, and was last seen on 14 August when she presumably started her migration.

For the 2009 season, she arrived at Loch Garten on 25 March and paired with Odin, an unringed male. EJ was last seen on 27 August.
