Re: Springwatch Highlights Poll

The last three weeks have flown by, we've had highs with some great species, places and people and we've had lows with some sad endings and some of the worst weather to hit the area on record. It's been a great series and they have battled through floods and clouds of midges to bring this to our screens so well done Springwatch!

Despite the tragedies the floods brought with them we want to focus on the positives so please select your favourite springwatch moment or feature from the list below. If we've missed something that you thought was worthy of your vote then tell us about it! One last chance to see the team this evening so tune in at 8pm on BBC2. I'll be manning the forums later as well so your comments are welcome!

Not a highlight as such, but I do take my hat off to all those behind the scenes for getting everything up and running again so quickly after those floods!! What a monumentous job! Thanks to all involved!

Really hard to vote for just one, but I've gone for the incredible camera work! It has really shown some incredible footage! However, all the highlights above, and more, have made in a really superb series! My only very slight moan is only having 2 unsprungs this series! A shame as it's such a laugh!

Looking forward to AutumnWatch already! :-)

I'm with Marjus on this one, on all counts.

I couldn't possibly pick a favourite highlight as each different moment was my favourite at the time. However, the camera work was superb. Hats off to all concerned - from technicians to presenters. Brilliant series.

I wanted to tick all the boxes, but in the end I gave the peregrines the vote. Their family history is so fascinating. A close second would have been the camera work and all those who have worked so hard through difficult conditions to provide such superb insights.

Me neither. Each of the items has been fascinating in its' own right. I greatly admire the work and dedication of the cameramen but even the presentation of that owes a lot to the editing and production team as well. Well done and thankyou to everyone involved in any way.

I love all the wildlife and the presenters enthusiasm, especially Chris, really loves his stuff. Charlie has also made we want to wonder up a river with waders on looking for kingfishers.

So hard to choose. I've gone for thoses sandpipers, especially now they have hatched. But everyone involved was fantastic, especially those who got everything up and running again, after the floods.

I agree that it has been hard to choose. However I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to get a close look at a kingfisher's nest, something which I felt very privelidged to be able to watch, so in the end I voted for Charlie's river footage. I respect his dedication and in-depth knowledge of the creatures featured in his footage. I found the spotlights on common mammals which we take for granted such as moles and rabbits interesting as well. I also very much respect the fact that springwatch does show animals being predated and explains that this is natural and not detrimental to their populations, rather than shying away from the subject or trying to portray predators as horrible killing machines as you may perhaps expect a family friendly show to do. It is important that people understand and are used to seeing predation as it will prevent them from forming negative opinions about birds of prey and corvids, for example. I am already looking forward to Autumnwatch and next Springwatch, keep up the good work guys.

So unfair to choose only one , but had to be the kingfishers and otter closely followed by all the rest. It has been a fantastic series this year so well done to the superb camera work the presenters and all the backroom staff too. Roll on Autumn

Thanks for all your votes so far, this 'just for fun' poll is closing today so there is still time to pick a highlight from this years fantastic Springwatch series. I think the overwhelming majority agree that it is one of, if not the best so far and there were far too many great features to include them all, the team out did themselves this year!

However, the Dyfi ospreys are leading the way at the moment with the macro footage and Charlies features in the minor places!

Charlie Hamilton James, Kingfishers and Otters.  Amazing footage.   I'm a big CHJ fan, so I'm biased.  But, you have to take your hat off to his knowledge and patience.

To be honest this programme should be on everynight.  I would never get bored.
