  • I've got 1 Robin, 1 Blackbird and 3 Pigeons...and that's the most i've had for weeks :-(>

My New blog is at http://eastfinchleywildside.blogspot.com/

  • my garden was very quiet this morning and the reason was a dead dove taken by the sparrow hawk.  Just started to get a few birds back

  • Woodpecker

Yesterday I put some meat scraps out for the mapies and carrion crows and lo and behold a red kite swooped down and grabbed a morsel. I nearly fainted, and I was so excited I had to phone my OH and tell him!

Now wouldn't that be a tick for the BGBW LOL

Yes, Chris, it would!!!!  Best of luck on that one!

Our skies have darkened and sleet is forecast for later. The birds know. I've had a visit from my little wren and one redpoll since my last post, so maybe it is looking up..

1000 black headed gulls? We have loads here that live on the river and circle over the gardens looking for scraps. I rather like them but they are noisy blighters, and my goodness they see scraps of food on the shed roof from miles away!

Bet you didn't have the camera ready, Chris. What was hubby's reaction.

My garden has been very quiet for weeks now. I guess it's down to the mild weather and abundance of natural food. However, I've noticed that Goldfinch numbers have increased in the last few days so that I'm getting up to six at a time. Had three Redpolls this morning too. I bet they all disappear for the BGBW

  • Sorry to rub it in lol but quite a good morning here (north of Scotland) in the run up to the weekend!  but then again we have a hard frost. I topped up my feeders this morning and almost immediately had robins, coal tits, blue tits, blackies, but no sign of my lovely Woodpecker!! I'm obsessed with his return & constantly looking!! (as it's the only time I've seen a Woodpecker & on my feeder!! Bonus!). Here's hoping he returns at the weekend! :D

    Hi TJ

My camera is always ready in the dining room but I wasn't even in the right room and it was so quick I wouldn't have got a shot of it anyway. OH wasn't as excited about it as I was LOL

    Best wishes Chris
