fittmonk and Lindybird, beautiful autumn colours. We have spent a few hours gathering leaves today so it is lovely to see some in their former glory. Thank you.
Don't you just love Acers!

When they look like that oh yes! Brilliant photo's and tree.
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Those beautiful Acers are just what we needed. (just seen the weather forecast !)
Lovely photos guys and girls
I love Acers, they one of my favourites. Wonderful photos. The colours of autumn take your breath away don't they.

Our Acers are poor wee things - in large containers on the decking - too windy I think.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I have an Acer that is beautifully red in the spring which darkens to maroon as the year goes on but in the Autumn it's disappointing because the leaves just dry up and fall off without a dramatic colour change.
FP that sounds a bit like our "adopted" acer - a 20 footer right on our boundary but technically the neighbours ;-) We have tried to artfully include it in our new hedge in the hope that once the hedging fills out a bit the tenants next door (who come and go) will not realise the tree is their side and so it will be safe.
Its beautiful in Spring & Summer but the leaves just curl up and drop in Autumn. The birds love it as a launch pad to our feeders - and the blue & great tits frequently patrol it for creepy-crawlies and its right near the bedroom window - great for idle birding - or we can now kid ourselves - eco-birding!
