Well here is a good example of what Venus and the pleiadas did look like.
Venus is now past its best and will fall rapidly in altitude during May.
It will transit the sun on June 5/6 an event which no on these forums will ever see again as the next such event is on December 10/11 2117

from here
The transit of the Sun by Venus on the 3rd June 1769 had been the first objective of Captain James Cook, on his famous journey of mapping the Eastern Coast of Australia. He had made his observations of the transit from Tahiti - oh to be there on the 5th June instead of the UK(-:).
Bob, happily retired(-:)

I see what you mean. The 8th June 2004 was just about perfect. Wall to wall sunshine all day.
Apparently the moon is at it's perigee, nearest to earth for a year, and is 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. Hope we have a clear sky tonight!
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

MInd you the difference is not big enough for anyone to notice.
For an analysis see supermoon
I saw the almost full moon last night and it didn't strike me as bigger than normal.

Just seen the moon rise over the roofs, it does look big and bright.
