Its Sept 6th and im fully expecting all my House Martins to be packing their suitcases and planning their journey south to cosy climates! They are usually just finishing up and the last ones fledging by now. This year my Swallows went yesterday and there are only about 6 Housemartins left.
I have just heard baby martins squeaking for food from one of the 8 Martin nests under the eaves on my house. They sound very very young so are newly hatched !!. Isn't it very late in the year ??? Does anyone else have newly hatched Martins or Swallows? I feel very worried for them, so fingers crossed !
Our pair above the kitchen are sitting on their 3rd brrod,in years past we have had them fledging in early October, hope they make it.
Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Yes thanks for that i hope so too!
Passed a house this afternoon with parents still feeding
a good laugh is better than a tonic
Its good they are still here, hope the weather stays kind to them
