...but unfortunately the pictures aren't so good.
Took these on a local walk today and got my first Blackcap!
...being quick before they go and getting the focus etc. ain't easy is it?
Anyway pleased to have seen one and get some pics.
Cheers for now
Well done Kev on getting the photos especially when excitement takes over..it doesn't matter how good the photos are when you see a new bird for the first time you will remember that feeling whenever you look at them..and they not that bad pal.
They aren't that bad at all Kev. Well done, and the answer to your question is ..... YES!!! It is very exciting. I'm pleased for you.
Yes it is good to see a new bird. I was out yesterday on my local patch and they were singing all over the place but do you think I could get a shot of one. Very flighty they were, so you did better than me. I suspect these are the summer migrants rather than the ones we had in the winter which have probably gone back to Europe by now.
Same here, there were Blackcaps about last week - I didn't know till someone told me(-:) - but they stayed well hidden in the treetops and neither of us got a picture. It would have been my first Blackcap too so I was feeling pretty frustrated - fortubately I did manage to see Wild Boar sows with piglets so that made up for the disappointment somewhat. I also keep missing the Pied Flycathcther that everyone else manages to see - maybe i'm just not very good!!
Well done - I have only ever seen a couple of Blackcaps and none so far this year.
Yes - it IS exciting to see something you've never seen before. Not that bad pics and at least you have a record to keep you going until the next pic comes along. I know what you mean, the birds just don't stop still long enough for you to get focussed. Congratulations on your first ever blackcap. I've yet to see one of those.
I also could swear I saw (and heard) a Skylark performing a flight song across a flat open field.
Too far away to get a pic unfortunately. Beautiful song, though.
Well done Kev, there's nothing like seeing a something for the first time. Oh and yes they are flightylittle things. hope I get one to sit out in the open for a few seconds. My attempts at getting a good photo havent been good yet. This is the best for me so far. I'm sure I'll get my chance.
Well done Kev, never seen one and thanks for sharing.
Yes, well done Kev.It certainly is exciting getting a first.Let's hope you see plenty more this year, and get the photos you want.
It is exciting and you are lucky to get a photo.
Well done Kev. It is really exciting, and I'm still trying to find my first Blackcap. It's one of those birds that has eluded me for a while.
Well done Kev, I've been chasing a male around today trying to get a photo, but he never came clear of the new growing leaves for a shot.
