Hello All,back on line again, had a poorly computer, got it back again today,I think all this rain made it ill !!!!!. For the last 3 days we have had a wood pigeon in the garden who is very aggressive to all other birds especially other pigeons, not only does it scare off other birds by flying at them it physically attacks them and hits them with its body by launching itself against them, today a pigeon was on top of the bird table and it went straight for it and banged into it and knocked it off the table, the pigeon it hit went flying and hit the lawn in a flurry of feathers and landed on its back, not content with that it attacked it while it was on the floor and was pecking it until it managed to fly off,its not as if it wants the seed on the table its just looking for any birds in the garden, it then attacked the birds in the bird bath,it just dived in and attacked them, water everywhere.I have never seen any bird do this, any ideas ? as soon as the birds have gone it struts round the lawn for a while then sits on top of the shed waiting for any birds that come to feed or bathe then does it again.
Never see this with mine. They are usually docile. I see them scrapping with other woodies in the trees though.
Hi Roger, Glad you've got your computer back. I've not seen pigeons do this either, like Ray, I've only seen them scrap with each other, sounds like a territory situation, but I don't know.
What a violent pigeon! Has it got an asbo??
Do you think its actually "loved up" or frustrated because it hasn't found a mate for the season? I have seen the woodies tackle each other quite regularly but not like your description!
Hi Folks,he is really violent, got an attitude problem, been doing it all day again,he should have an asbo!!!! even went for a squirrel ,
