A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song. (Chinese proverb)
You're thinking along the same lines as I am but not the answer I had in mind LOL
I'm thinking starlings. They aren't water birds

Thats a great shot of a sandwich tern, well done. odd one out maybe starlings, all the other's are
connected to water (sea)
Less we forget
I agree we don't normally expect to see starlings by water, but I have seen them on a small "island" where there were lapwings, oyster catchers, gulls and other water birds lazing about. They looked "at home"
Cheers, Linda.

I'll say Starlings..even though they will eat anything the other two have a food in their name.

All correct answers. Alan is the nearest to my reason. You can eat a Sandwich and an Oyster but not a Starling:-) Sorry there's no prize though Alan.
Awww shucks
Groan !!!!!
Lovely shot Galatas, I thought that it was the middle Oystercatcher which has 2 legs, but I see my answer would have been too sensible(-:).

skipperThats a great shot of a sandwich tern,........
Thanks. Terns have been plentiful along this stretch of coast for the past few days. One report listed 200 Sandwich , a similar number of Common with a few Arctic mixed in. Little Terns nest on the other side of the Dee Estuary and some of those have been seen here too. There have also been a few Black Terns sighted and one probable but unconfirmed Roseate.
Not sure if this is an Arctic or Common on the same rocks as the Sandwich
