Have recently joined. Just spent a wonderful couple of hours at Carr Vale Nature Reserve in Bolsover, NE Derbyshire, using my new binoculars. Seen, among others, pair of bullfinches, reed bunting, yellowhammer, Great tit, a coot and her chicks (3), heron, lapwing. Amazing!! I highly recommend it.

Hi Alan, it is a great day out! I don't have any pics as yet - need to buy a decent camera. Am planning a walk round the Mayfield Valley next week, and then off to Bempton in June - can't wait! Hopefully will have some pics to share soon.
Nina
Thank you - I'm sure I will!

Thanks Nick, sure I will!
Welcome Nina from a neighbour in Leics!
See you're planning a visit to Bempton in June. I love that reserve and I was planning a trip around then as well. Maybe we'll bump into each other!
A couple of years ago there was a Juvenile Gannet on the path there and my pal was chased by it! That beak looks awfully long and sharp close up!
Great place though. Hope you enjoy the forum.
Birds for ever!
Hi Eck, I love Bempton too - my parents live out that way so I get to go quite a lot. Never been accosted by a gannet, although there's always a first time!! :)) Am looking forward to it and hope to have bought a decent camera by then.
