Hello! This is my first post, just to say that in my East Berks semi-rural 120ft x 60 ft back garden redwings have suddenly become fairly regular visitors, after years and years of no sightings. In the space of about 6 weeks, we've had four visits, all groundfeeding, in order: flock of 5; flock of five again the next day; group of three a week later; one bird this morning.
It's great when birds first come to your garden and I would say that a redwing must be fairly uncommon. According to my nature book they breed in Scotland and come from Scandinavia.
Not very common garden visitors but plentiful in the countryside around here.. ( south Lancashire ). Not as many as last winter when the weather was severe though.
I know nowt :)

Hi Haz
Nice birds to have. They came into my garden during the last two very cold winters but so far this winter they haven't visited. However, I can see two sitting in the trees 100 metres or so away, so I live in hope. The trouble is the Blackbirds have already stripped the berries off my Pyracantha bush which they like to eat.

Hi Haz and Talullah, and welcome to you both. Redwings are lovely birds to have in your garden. I too live in hope.

Welcome to the forum. Saw a group of Redwings in a hedgerow on the Lincolnshire Wolds near Louth in November, but yet too see any in my garden.
We live in hope!
