Re: Call for submissions of corvid stories

Hello everyone! I'm new to the RSPB community. I'm an editor at a major Canadian publisher specializing in books about nature and the environment. We're interested in putting together a book of [people's first-hand personal encounters with crows, ravens, and other corvids.

Crows and ravens play with our minds. We tell them that they are wild and we humans are not.  We say that they are part of the Natural World. They stare at us with one bright eye and fly right through our flimsy conceptual barriers. Hadn’t you noticed, they seem to say, we’re all in this life together.

Have you had an unforgettable interaction with a raven or a crow, an experience that enriched your life and left you wondering?  If so, we are eager to hear from you.

Hello Corvid Fan, a warm welcome to here :-)

Have two Ravens that visit my garden reguarly everyday, they eat off the bird table and drink out of the bath (although they are having to eat off the ground for a while now and bird bath is off limits !)

They are creatures of habit and always do the same thing in the same order without

change :-)

Corvid fan - I'm going to be really unpopular but you'll have to convince me about corvids I can see intelligence in those eyes for sure,but I don't warm to them at all....and that's an understatement to avoid loads of people emailing me to say that I should appreciate all birds.....

They are goldfish snatchers (seen!) bluetit harassers and so populous that the word "cull" would pop into my head if I didn't force it out again. In my youth I never got more than two or three in to the "magpie" nursery rhyme,but these days I get up to 8-10 in the park near me.

Tell me some of your tales and win me over!
