Re: Live wildlife gardening Q&A session on the communities Wednesday 26 October 3 pm

Hi Susie, I noticed that on the identify this thread that the general consensus is Dunlin, tough one to call given the angle of the birds head but the beak does look quite long which would favour dunlin! I think little stint has been reported from Dungeness recently though, bird on the left looks like...

I work as a volunteer at a residential home for people with multiple disabilities. Bird Deterrent
Gaspode
My father has fed the birds in his garden for the last 16 years and has a multitude of various birds visiting on a daily basis which he loves and it is, in fact, a real hobby for him. Firstly, as has already been suggested, no food should be fed on the ground, especially...

Deterring wild ducks whilst keeping my own fowl fed!!!!
molliemill
I have in my garden, roaming free, 2 geese, 2 hens and one guinea fowl. In early spring a wild duck nested on an island in garden pond and in early May hatched 9 ducklings. They are now a nuisance. I am feeding the 11 ducks (the mother, 9 hungry teenagers and a hanger on who has decided to ...

Re: CATS!!!
LRB
As has previously been mentioned, the UK's estimated 7.2 million cats are known to take millions (up to 55 million!) of birds each year, but from a conservation viewpoint, we need to consider whether this is causing bird populations to decline. The domestic cat takes 15 times more birds than owls...

Re: Squrrels

If you don't want squirrels in your garden at all I think you will have to invest in good squirrel proof bird feeders or make your own:- http://www.peewit.co.uk/squirrels/index.htm However, if you just want to make sure there is enough food left for the birds, you could use a squirrel feeder....
