  • Forum post: Redwing Galore

I've just joined the Community and want to share my excitement at seeing 10 Redwing in the tops of the trees in my garden; three appeared yesterday. I have all sorts of feeders, tables etc in my garden, and I know that they eat berries and worms - the latter unlikely as the ground is frozen solid...
  • Forum post: Redwing frustration

Redwings are very rare visitors to our "front hedge", perhaps one every three years. On Sunday I had just completed my hour for BGBW and was entering my results when a single redwing appeared in my heighbours' apple tree. It was soon joined by a dozen others who, after a few minutes flew...
  • Forum post: Redwings and Fieldfares.

Went out this afternoon to look for red kites around Gerrards Cross, but instead saw loads and loads of redwings and quite a few fieldfares. Is it a particularly good year for redwings? We did the BGBW yesterday and spotted about 15 redwings in my neighbours holly tree, and saw loads more flying over...

  • Blog post: On the Blacktoft menu this week

With our FEED THE BIRDS OPEN DAY this Sunday 24th October, I thought that we should focus on what you might like to eat. Lets start with insects. • Forum post: Re: Redwing in my garden

We had a whole flock of redwings appear in our garden on christmas day. These continued to come through out the bad weather, we are still seeing the odd one, infact we had one appear during our garden bird watch. On the 10th January we saw our first field fare but didn't find out what it was...
  • Forum post: Re: Redwing in my garden

Hi we had a redwing visit our garden, but we saw at least 30 of them in the cemetary opposite our house.... think they have migrated over here, so we have been feeding them mealworms amongst all the other birds in the cemetary and in our garden....... Costing a small fortune but worth every penny...
  • Forum post: Re: Redwing in my garden

AnitaTozer Had a first sighting of a Redwing in my garden today - he very obliging sat still enough for me to check out what he was! Maybe its all this snow that's encouraging them? The garden is certainly very busy today (I have had to go out and top up the ground feeder and table twice already...
  • Forum post: Re: Redwings

Hi, I am stupidly (!) so excited as I've just seen my very first pair of Redwings in my garden. They appeared yesterday amid the deep snow, and today are taking advantage of the thaw and feeding on the remains of last autumn's fallen apples. As it hardly ever snows/sticks here in the warmer...
