Sorry I forgot to say Hello to you all and jumped in with a question first,lol..

I have been married to my hubby for twenty nine years and we both live in the Midlands not too far from where the Red Kites have been reintroduced back into the wild at Finshade woods and have been lucky enough to have them fly over our village and my hubby often looks out of his office window and sees them flying round the local town centre....

We enjoy birdwatching very much and wherever we go we always do a tick list to record the birds we see on our travels and when on holiday.Perhaps when we have gone from this earth our lists might help understand what birds were about in various parts of the country....

Look forward to chatting with you all and keep up the good work.

Thanksxxx

Hi Robyn and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will enjoy it here.

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

Hello, Robyn and welcome.  I'm sure you will enjoy yourself (just noticed I've put almost identical to Squirrels words, but still mean them warmly, anyway!).

Thank you all for your kind comments and look forward to chatting to you all

We often go over to the main hedquarters of the RSPB at Sandy and when we were over there in May managed to get a photo of an English Crossbill that came down for a drink.Never realised what large birds they are.

Don't know if any of you have a favourite bird but mine is the Kingfisher,followed by Robins,and Swifts because I love to hear them screaming for joy as they fly round the houses in the summer...

Welcome from me too Robyn!

Favourite bird? Now that's a hard one! Kingfisher rates highly but I love all birds really! Always exciting to see something new although I'm just as happy to watch those that I've seen before!! :-)

Hi Marjus and Thanks for your kind words.{smile}

I love the Kingfisher because I love the brilliant blue colouring on the body,love Robins also as they always seem to pop up wherever we go walking or birdwatching and the Siwfts I could watch for hours as they hurtle round the skies like little jet fighters lol.We are like you though and love all birds,wildlife and flowers etc,although my hubby has a dislike for Flamingo's lol..

Favourite bird?   Skylark for it's superb singing, long-tailed tits for being so endearing and the whole owl family.  Oh! and I know they are mammals, not birds but as they fly I shall add bats to the list, especially natterers and brown long eareds.  :))

There is something new to learn everyday...
