Can anyone up in LG or elsewhere identify this young bird. The ring tag is partly visible reading as: RP4 The photo is in the gallery on the www.faune-aquitaine.org/index.php site. If you haven't already tried it, have a play with our bird identifier . It just covers wild birds though, so it wouldn't have coped with the guineafowl! But hopefully you'll find it useful in future.

I agree in thinking that it looks like the feather of some kind of gamefowl. I'm most inclined to suggest it looks like a juvenile partridge http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/photos/2325.jpg , but the size suggests it is most likely a pheasant feather..
