I have the same problem, it's not good as they do drive out the other birds..... any luck with finding a feeder that stops them coming in?
Send them up here. I would get rather excited,if I got one in my garden :-)
They are in Fallowfield Manchester but I have never seen them in a garden.
Gosh, whereabouts in Fallowfield? might be worth a trip if there's a decent chance of seeing one. Anyone know what their preferred habitat is?
Theres supposed to be a big colony in a cemetery not far from here. We get them occasionally in treetops lining our street but not often in the garden. I think they came to the feeders once the winter before last. There is quite s lot of competition at the feeders in my garden . Even magpies and pigeons chance their arm (or rather their wings). I think perhaps the parakeets are getting easier pickings elsewhere. They are very easy to identify even from a distance because of the racket they make and of course their long tails and distinctive colour.
aaah just looked on manchester birding web site and found out where they are being spotted - apparently there's an Amazon parrot and a crimson rosella hanging around with the ring necks. Very exciting - down that way at the hospital in a couple of weeks so might be able to make a detour!
I saw them at Platts Field park and where my daughter lives they often fly over. Next time I am there I will look hard to see the other parrots!! Good luck too
If you are at the main hospital (MRI) Fallowfield is just along from there and the Park is off the main road
Thanks for that. The other park there have been lots of sightings at (esp of the parrots) is Fog Lane Park - which is a couple of minutes drive from The Christie. But Platts Field Park is only a few mins drive from that hosp too :)
Hoping for a sunny day when we go - otherwise a bit of a treck (50 mile roundtrip)! If Fog Lane isn't too far from you it might be worth a try! Apparently the Amazon parrot and crimson rosella are very noisy, chatting to each other so aren't too difficult to find when they're around. Do post some pics if you manage to see them!
no idea how to add a photo onto this topic!
will try a photo. Hope you can see the parrot!! It was in the middle of the lake in the park. We saw a few but only this one sat long enough!!
neither have I. I can see where to add them when you initiate a thread, but I've seen others add pics and videos to their responses, so there must be a way!

I think I did it!!
