We also live facing open farmed countryside . We thought that when moving here 5 years ago the area would provide us with views of many wild birds, but this has proved to be the opposite. In the city of Nottingham the gardens have wild birds, foxes and even squirrels. Here we don't see any sparrows...

Hi Twitch I have noticed it at this time of year before, but at the moment my garden is full or baby birds and their parents. It will be quieter later in the month though. The RSPB have advice about birds going missing at certain times of the year Here

Thanks, Val I suppose I'll just have to pray! Two golfinches did appear today according to my wife. (I was out)!. I've put the nyger seed a bit further off on an apple tree. Maybe that was a factor?! BW Arby
