Hi Vivvy, not only do they hang on bird feeders.. they will also eat on the hover! I've managed to get some high speed video of the one in our garden doing this, one of the best below. I've got more videos of this robin and other birds on my youtube page if your interested...

We also live facing open farmed countryside . We thought that when moving here 5 years ago the area would provide us with views of many wild birds, but this has proved to be the opposite. In the city of Nottingham the gardens have wild birds, foxes and even squirrels. Here we don't see any sparrows...

I see from the photos that a lot of people are putting out peanuts and suet balls in nets. While it is great to see people feeding birds, these nets could actually cause some serious harm to birds, as well as other wildlife, and are also environmentally unfriendly.
