The observant among you may have noticed that registration for Big Schools' Birdwatch 2013 is now open!
Our website looks a little different this year, but it's still packed with lots of brilliant resources and ideas to make your Birdwatch one to remember!
What is Big Schools' Birdwatch?
I’m sure many of you visiting this blog may not have heard of the Big Schools' Birdwatch – so let me explain it briefly to you:
We'll give you lots of lesson ideas and free resources to teach the Birdwatch if you give us one hour of your club or class' time to count the birds in your school. It's as easy as that!
There’s lots more detail for you to look at on our website, and plenty of activities for you to do with your class.
Sound good?
If you would like to take part, please register here, and then wait for your fantastic resource pack to be sent to you – it includes all the information you need to teach the Birdwatch, including bird ID and teacher’s notes (so don’t worry if you’re not confident about telling a starling from a blackbird – we have a section on that too).
You could use it as a one off activity, or you could build the project into your scheme of work as something a bit more substantial – our website and resource pack contains lots of ideas on how you can expand upon the Birdwatch, and use it to suit your needs.
This year
We have produced a presentation for you to use with your group or class, it's a great way to introduce the Birdwatch and learn a few bird identification skills. We also have some great posters which you can edit with the details of your Birdwatch. Simply download them from our website here .
