This juvenile woodpecker was happily minding his own business on the feeding station when a pigeon frightened the life out of it! I think it is a lovely expressive shot.
The Great Spotted Woodpecker is my favourite garden bird and I never tire of watching them (we have a resident male and female in our garden). I adore this picture and congratulate you on catching this wonderful moment. The pigeon looks huge compared to the juvi GSW. I've taken thousands of pictures of the ones in our garden hoping to get that special shot when their beautiful wings are spread - have managed a few good ones but it's taken a lot of patience and hard work so I value what you have achieved here.
