Aberdeen Red Kites (ARK) is a three year project to reintroduce kites to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. 30 birds were released in 2007, 35 in 2008 and another 30-35 in 2009. Many of the birds have been named by schools and local business. The aim of the project is to establish a breeding population in one of the largest remaining gaps for red kites in Britain.
Since the weekend we've been having some problems with the phone line which we upload the webstream on so we've not had any footage. Hoping we'll get it fixed soon though, so keep checking back just in case. In the mean time the birds don't mind at all and you can still get your kite fix at VSA Easter Anguston where the footage is live every day 9.30-4.30. The feathers are really starting to come through on our three chicks so they're not just white balls of fluff anymore!
Will update as soon as we get the web working.
