Northern bald ibis

The Northern bald ibis is the rarest bird in the Middle East. We're tracking five of them via satellite transmitters as they leave Syria for the winter. Where will they go? Will they survive?

    Only Odeinat still transmitting

You'll have noticed that only Odeinat is still transmitting regularly now and he's surprisingly (for us at least!) still in southern Saudi Arabia. This time last year he was across the Red Sea in Ethiopia. Salama, who has been at the regular wintering ground for a while now, has not been checked on the ground in Ethiopia, but her battery went steadily weaker so we assume she is likely to still be in the same area. For the other birds we are less sure, and getting observers to the sites where they last transmitted has been a big problem for us. We still hope to get more news in the fairly near future.
