nice to have you as my friend. i have just been watching a 10 min programme on bbc2 called "watching the wild" otters. if you didn't see it,do try i player. the otter wasn't scared at all, just extremely curious.      Enjoyed autumnwatch on Friday, was interested to see the experienced osp swooping down a few times until she was sure of her fish

when we moved to shetland i said i wasn't returning to the mainland till i had seen an otter and the northern lights. we saw neither. i am glad to say we have seen the northern lights. another wish has been to see red squirrels and of course we have seen them in local culloden forest and as i am sure you will know there are plenty at LG. looking forward to autumnwatch and osps in senegal at 8 30

you lucky person. in our 2 yrs we didn't see an otter. perhaps something to do with the fact that when out walking we always had our dogs with us to give any otters warning. remember 1 day arriving at clickimin loch someone saying did you see the 2 otters. as usual we had the dogs withus so the answer was no

wonder what you thought of shetland ed. we lived there for 2 years 1993-5 and i thought it a very special place. dave was the manager of sumburgh airport. unfortunately dave hated his job and resigned and we moved back to the mainland

Hi Ed - the hide is staying open this year for the first time - in the past we closed and put the hide in mothballs until early spring.  We are lucky that our birds are around all year and do not migrate like ospreys.  Mull is a year round wildlife destination so we thought we would trial opening on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the guided trips.  Bookings are via the Tourist Office at Craignure. cheers Debby
