I am a retired person who got interested in ospreys after being taken to LG by my son and daughter in law aqbout four years ago. I joined the rspb after that visit and have followed their adventures from them on. I sometimes visit Vane Farm which is the nearest RSPB site nearest to me but it doesn't hold the same appeal. I have visited LG twice this year and hope to visit again before the girls migrate.

Hi George,

Yes you would get set up for £500.00 with a reasonable camera.

Try warehouseexpress.com they are reliable and very helpful andhave a good selection from canon, nikon and olympus which are all good makers.

One thing I wouls say is that if you can visit your local camera shop first and ask to have a look. Get hold of them and see what feels comfortable. I use canon not because I feel they are superior cameras but because they feel comfortable to me in use but a friend of mine has tried it and he feels eveything is in the wrong place for him. Also read through a couple of magazines they usually do revues on whats on the market DSLR USER is one I would recomend.

Hope this helps you and good luck in your search. If youneed any more help just ask.

Hi George,

I assume you are lookng for a camera for nature photography. If you are dont expect to much from compact camera's because usually there lenses dont focus in close enough. If you budget stretches far enough you would be much better with a digital SLR and going for the longest lenses you can afford this will help get the close up shots.

It can be a very expensive hobby and as I have said it depends on your budget. If you let me know what amount of money you are willing to spend and what you intend to use the camera for I will gladly try to advise you further.

Thanks Geroge for the idea even though I don't have Vista. I appreciate the thought.
