The reasons for a vaccine and contraceptive not yet ready are basically twofold.

One, of course, is money . the second is that the 2 species are quite closely genetically related.

As we have seen H1N1, with the swine flu virus, it can take a long time to create a new vaccine, despite new tissue culture techniques and vitually lmitess cash.

As for contraception, it's not my field but I guess not a priority for the powers in being.

Unfortunately, trapping, shooting and predation do not seem to be working.

Sorry to be so negative, perhaps food source is the answer

Would be interested in your thoughts on this.
