Hi Lloyd, thanks for that - although I wish I hadn't asked now. Poor bird. Is it my imagination or is there a lot more disease around this summer? First greenfinches, then goldfinches and now blackbirds - all with different ailments. And that doesn't include that chaffinch with the gammy foot that we saw on (I think) Springwatch.

Hi, re: your post today (23rd Sept) in Wildlife on the Web, I'm puzzled as when I joined there was an enormous row going on about people posting on blogs (particularly the Loch Garten Osprey one, as I recall), so I haven't gone anywhere near them - or the pages of the groups I have joined as I got the impression folk weren't welcome there. Then, going on from that, I couldn't work out what the comment boxes were for! Could you enlighten me please when you have a moment?
