I've been following the Osprey diary since 2005 and have occasionly joined in the blog since 2008. Joined the RSPB at Loch Garten in 1974, when I was hooked on these wonderful birds. Have seen Ospreys in West USA where they were nesting on telephone(?) or electricity posts. I take part in Big Garden Birdwatch and belong to the BTO's Garden Birdwatch which operates all year. Still wish I could sort out the common birds by their calls, but find it difficult. No problem telling an Osprey though!
Thanks, Liz, for the reply. I'm not sure what Ros does or how often she goes, she does know someone who arranges various trips for them. Next year there is one planned to Africa I believe. Is College Lake what used to be BBONT reserve? Or is it all the same? Hope you get a chance to look out of the window while working. My office window overlooks the Solway, I just get gulls and cormorants, but in winter I see a lot of geese flying over.

Hi Liz, I lived in Mentmore until 1992 when I came to Cumbria. I think my sister-in-law goes to College Lake, Ros Crematy, she is into birds, have you met?
