Firstly thank you for your concern it is much appreciated.

I was informed by an LG Blogger that there was a new Blog out so I proceded to open my bookmark to take me to the page only to find I coud not make a comment on the blog from Alice as there was not a space for me to do so.

Looking to the ntop of the page I found I needed log in which I duly and was told my info was not correct etc.

The only way I could get to be able to make a comment was to re-join with a new Password and Avatar but my e-mail address was OK.

I am bnow back CliveT as I was before the changeover to the present format.

If you can see anyway in which this does not happen again I shall be very pleased.

I appreciate there are demons at times with computers/websites etc but it's so annoying.

Once again I appreciate your concern.

This behaviour has been observed frequently. From my book I would say they were Four-spotted darters. The young children from next door popped in for a look.

The real reason for the message though, is that on Friday, the big green and black hawker landed for a few seconds on my bald head!

Dragonflies.

Katie, I have a koi pond and a small pond for frogs, toads and newts which was incidentally being monitored by Amber Teacher, of the Royal Zoological Society. Each year I see a few mayflies of different colours. But something always puzzles me about the visiting dragonfly. Year after year it only is what appears to be the same one, because it always looks the same. One year there were two. It is large, body is black and green, about 2.5 inches long, wingspan say 3 inches, visits from late June to September. It cannot be the same one, but the behaviour is exactly the same, it stays for a few minutes up to 2-3 hours an warm, sunny days, darting around, showing more interest in the koi pond, that the other one. Maybe it likes the running water, or the aeration, but it lands on vegetation at the edge of the pond, poking it's rear end on to the plants. It cannot do this onto the bed of the pond, because it is too deep. I heard it reported that someone thought they migrated, and I know that they can fly very fast for their size. The one Show on BBC did a story about them last night and showed the egg laying into gravel in shallow water. It will be on BBC iPlayer and I plan to wacth it properly again. If you wish to reply, there is no hurry, as I know you have your hands full with the ospreys. It is the repetitive nature of the sightings that puzzles me. How is it that different identical dragonflies keep coming to the same place and hardly ever, does any of different appearance. I saw it only yesterday, while having a cuppa.

Photos

Thanks Katie...
When I joined I asked if, when posting photos directly from my web site, this site would automatically re-size them and I was advised it would. However, I have just posted some in the Swallows thread and they are way too big - distort the page. Please can you advise to what size I should set them. Currently the longest side is 1024

Thanks

p.s. Is there a Preview Post button anywhere as I could have done with that then I would have known they were too big?

Galleries

Hi Katie

The Galleries appear a bit confused, Dogs and cats, in wildlife and early birds (perhaps a pet gallery, this may include captive birds of prey) It looks like many people wish to compare pets this is good.

Is the idea of the rouges/early birds Gallery for People or birds? It feels like I made a mistake here! If it had one for each less mistakes are possible.

Again perhaps one for wild birds and one for bugs, it would make it all feel more structured.

I hope I'm not creating trouble, I would just rather look at Birds alone.

I have placed two comments in the blog relating to the Pied flycatcher by a mistake.

A bit of a glitch me thinks.
