A few reed warblers have now returned to Blacktoft, joining the sedge warblers in the reedbed.  Listen out also for whitethroat and it is probably the best time to listen out for grasshopper warbers as the start their amazing sound as soon as they arrive.  They will probably go quiet after a week so if you want to listen out for grasshopper warblers now is the time to visit us - morning or evening is best.  Bearded tits started their feeding flights yesterday, flying over the tops of the reedbeds.  They have been seen around first and singleton lagoons.  Garganey turned up again yesterday.  A red kite passed over on Tuesday.  Our three spotted redshank continue to be seen on the reserve along with 60 black-tailed godwits.  House martins, sand martins and swallows have been seen in good numbers over the reserve during the last few days.
