Grab your camera and take some stunning images of the Humber's wildlife

From its source at Trent Falls to its mouth at Spurn Head, the Humber Estuary and its surrounding area is a truly amazing place for wildlife. In the reedbeds of the inner estuary, secretive bitterns hunt for fish and marsh harriers soar in search of prey.

The mudflats along the river are alive with waterbirds feeding on worms and shellfish. In the surrounding countryside wild deer roam, March hares box and if you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a water vole or otter.

With careful and considerate planning, the natural and industrial worlds can co-exist in harmony. Wildlife can live     side-by-side with a thriving ports industry.

In celebration of the Humber’s world-class wildlife the RSPB and Associated British Ports have joined forces to hold the Humber Estuary Wildlife Photography Competition 2011.
