A small group of Barnacles flew onto the saltmarsh from a SW direction at 13.00 pm. They grazed for a while along the edge of the marsh and then flew off west again.

Having grazed for a while this small group took off in a westerly direction.

9 12 11 Seen working its way down the Lonning, picking at dried seed heads as it went.

15 12 11. Came across this wary bird on a sapling overlooking Campfield saltmarsh.

A group of Cormorants have been regularly successfully fishing here on the estuary.

They seemed also to be enjoying the warmth of the sun on the metal roof of the old grain silo.

After spending some time grazing, preening and swimming around the meadows and pools in front of the hide on North Plain Farm, this group of swans took to the air.

28 11 12 It had been picking around in the dubs on the saltmarsh as the high tide receeded from the marsh, presumably leaving offerings amongst the rushes for it to glean.

It had been hunting for invertebrates amongst the rushes near the hide. Unfortunately it was silhouetted against afternoon sun for viewing, but its hunting success could be clearly seen. Two young Heron joined in the affair later on, and seemed to benefitting from its trampling technique to disturb prey...

Watched this great bird come into land on the saltmarsh round Scargavel Point( NY198617) at dusk today. It landed near the dubs, which it proceeded to hunt in, for small fish and frogs etc. It has been regularly seen most days now hunting on the Reserve saltmarsh, since 1st November and has given a great...

Fishing amongst the pools and rushes, near the wood, well out on the wetland. There are good mixed flocks of Teal, Wigeon, Mallard and Shoveler out here too.

9 12 11. Grey Heron are frequent visitors to the Reserve wetlands. This one had been in the pool next to the hide.

Heron visits pool regularly. On this occasion was seen to be catching something quite frequently.

16 12 11 It had snowed overnight and was cold and bright today.

Treecreeper has been seen for the last couple of days picking around the mossy and lichen covered tree trunks in the damson orchard adjacent to Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve. I managed to get this photo of it with an insect it had just found.
