Welcome to another day of recent sightings ....
Old Moor today ..
There were 2 little egrets, a black-tailed godwit, a green sandpiper, 7 redshanks and 3 ringed plovers reported but no location was submitted.
Lets just pretend that they were on the Wader Scrape ...
A barn owl was seen hunting along the far banking of the reserve.
A lesser whitethroat, a sedge warbler and a reed warbler were reported from Green Lane.
There were 15 Pochards reported on Wath Ings .. I'm not sure if this is a total of adults and chicks or just adults ..
A hobby was seen hunting over the East Field Pool.
A sensible report again ..... nice ...
Don't get too used to it ..
Bert xx
Hello .. Good evening .. and Welcome to today's sightings ...
Today is better for reports ..
Old Moor had a little egret on Wath Ings along with a tufted duck with 12 ducklings, a little grebe with 5 .. errr .. 'grebelings' , a great-crested grebe also with 5 'grebelings' and common terns.
There were 2 seperate sightings of a kingfisher from the new Bittern Hide.
A fledgeling bullfinch was a welcome sight on the garden feeders.
On the Mere the 2 'Med gulls' are now the proud parents of 2 chicks (up to now) which is great news for the reserve !!!
So ... All in all there is new life springing up everywhere on Old Moor and the other Dearne Valley reserves. Lets hope that it continues that way ...
I myself am also going to 'spring up' and get a beer from the fridge ...
Bert ....
Good evening viewer ...
Reports today from Old Moor were few and far between ..
In fact, they are so 'few and far' that there are no reports !!
I can however, bring you a peregrine falcon from Wombwell Ings .. Well, when I say I can 'bring you one', I don't mean that I can actually turn up on your doorstep with a peregrine in a bag ... but I can report a sighting of one one to you ..
As is customary in this situation I refer you to yesterday's report where you will find a good idea of what you are likely to see at the various reserves..
What you are unlikely to see ... is a peregrine in a bag ..
Bye Bye ...
