Good evening readers :-)
I think that Spring may be here !! ... Well at least for this week anyway ...

Beginning with the Bird Garden ..
Reported from here were blue tits, great tits, long-tailed tits, a willow tit, chaffinches, greenfinches, bullfinches, tree sparrows, reed buntings, magpies, wood pigeons, stock doves, blackbirds, a song thrush, robins, 2 moorhens and a great spotted woodpecker !! .... Plenty of entertainment to be had just in the one hide !!
Wath Ings had a great crested grebe, Moorhens, loads of coots, Canada geese, greylag geese and pheasants ...
A kestrel was seen from the Bittern Hide and another one was seen at the rear of the reserve over towards Bolton Ings ..
Over on the Mere were 30+ lapwings, 2 ringed plovers, 2 oystercatchers, mallards, gadwalls, wigeons, teals, wigeons, pochards, shovelers, goldeneyes(4m+2f), 2 goosanders, little grebes, a little egret, carrion crows, jackdaws, a female sparrowhawk, reed buntings, herring gulls and black-headed gulls ....
Don't forget to keep your eyes open on the Mere for Mediterranean gulls too just in case they pay us a return visit ;-)
The large flock of starlings were still doing the rounds over various parts of the reserve while over on the car park feeders were coal tits and yellowhammers ..
So there you go .. Plenty to keep you busy there if you pay us a visit !!
