A nice day today !! ....

Lots to tell too from the various areas around Old Moor ...

Wath Ings had 2 mute swans with 6 cygnets, 30+ coots, 20 Mallards, 2 little grebes and around a dozen black-headed gulls ..

Reported from the Wader Scrape were 80+ lapwings, 5 common terns, 50+ starlings, a juvenile pied wagtail, a herring gull, 2 lesser black-backed gulls, mute swans, 2 little grebes, a great-crested grebe, a black tailed-godwit, 2 common snadpipers and2 redshanks ...

The Bird Garden had a juvenile great spotted woodpecker, yellowhammers,  2 bullfinches (m+f), 10 chaffinches, 2 great tits, and greenfinches ..

There was a reed warbler near to the children's play area and a willow tit was seen on the car park feeders ...

On Green lane a bank vole was seen .. 

Todays no fixed abode report was of tufted ducks with 13 ducklings .. A nice report, wherever they happened to be :-) 

Over on Wombwell Ings were juvenile swallows, a flock of goldfinches and a weasel ...

Seen here were 6 great-crested grebes, 12 little grebes, 27 tufted ducks with broods of 13,10, 9, 8, 6, 6, 6, 4 and 2 !! .. 10 pochards, 131 coots, a cormorant, 2 lapwings, 5 oystercatchers, 147 black-headed gulls, 4 lesser black-backed gulls, 2 common terns, a great spotted woodpecker, 4 chiffchaffs, 3 whitethroats, 3 blackcaps, 2 reed warblers and 3 sedge warblers ...

Today's butterflies were  ringlet, small copper, meadow brown, small white, speckled wood and large skipper ..

Damselflies seen were azure blue, common blue and blue-tailed ... 

 

And that my friends is that !! 

The sun is shining as I type this and I can feel a well deserved lager rapidly approaching ..

In fact .. Here it is now !!
