Evenin all :-)
So .. The water levels are still dropping which is a good thing .. Green Lane is now passable with a bit of paddling but it will pay to make sure that your shoes don't leak and can cope with a couple of inches of water ... Hopefully it won't take long before we are back to dry paths again ...
More good news is that the path to the Bittern/Reedbed hides is now open again so you will be able to enjoy 2 more hides and a reedbed walk too !!
And so to today's sightings ..
All from Old Moor today friends ..
There were tree sparrows seen on the car park feeders and a juvenile great spotted woodpecker was in the Bird Garden along with 3 siskins ..
A common sandpiper was seen on Wath Ings as was a hunting barn owl ...
The Wader Scrape had a Mediterranean gull, 3 common terns, an Arctic tern, 2 wigeons, 6 teals, a little egret, a green sandpiper, a juvenile dunlin, oystercatchers, linnets, reed buntings and goldfinches ... Oh yes .. And a hobby ! .. Cool !!
There were tufted ducks seen on the Field Pool with 14 tuftlets ;-)
A final report came from close to the visitor centre where a sparrowhawk was seen chasing a great spotted woodpecker !
And that concludes today's report ....
Have a great evening everyone ;-)
Bert xx
My friend and I arrived today just in time for the opening of the reedbed path. We were lucky to see a Bittern fly past an hour or so later.
Brilliant! I wonder which one it was?....
