Evening readers ;-)
Welcome to today's sightings from Young Bertram ...
I always feel young on a Friday .. Old on Saturday mornings admittedly, but young on a Friday ;-)
So ..
Old Moor first ..
On the Mere was a black tern and also the undoubtable highlight of the day .. An osprey which passed over heading South at around 10:50 .. Splendid !!!
There were both an adult and a juvenile green woodpecker seen feeding on the grass near to the feeders in the car park
Over on Wath Ings were 2 spotted redshanks, 10 greenshanks, c13 green sandpipers, 9 ringed plovers, 6 common sandpipers, 6 black-tailed godwits, 3 dunlins, an oystercatcher, 2 water rails and a garganey ...
There was a wood sandpiper reported from the Wader Scrape although there's a good chance that it wasn't on its' own :-)
Common terns were seen on the Field Pool and there were also 2 hobbies reported but no location was recorded for these ..
A marsh harrier was seen over Bolton Ings .. Nice to see that at least one of these has hung around long enough for plenty of people to enjoy it ..
Butterflies reported were peacock, small tortoiseshell, gatekeeper, meadow brown, green veined white and holly blue ..
There .. All done fo today ...
The friendly Weatherman on telly has just said that the Bank Holiday is going to be a washout ....
How wonderful ..
Ah well, at least I can still go to Old Moor and sit in the hides there ... It may even turn out to be a good move as there's every chance of something exciting dropping in at this time of the year if it's raining !!
You never know !!
Right .. I'm outta here :-)
Have a great evening friends ..

+ 4 Golden Plover on Wath Ings
Thanks Webbo. I did report that to Bert when he rang up, but it would appear that his pen ran out at that particular moment, so it didn't make it into his blog!
