Evenin friends ;-)
Friday at last and the sun is shining .. !!
Here are today's ornithological occurrences for your delectation ... That was posh for me wasn't it ??
So ..
Old Moor to begin ..
On Wath Ings/Wader Scrape were 49 golden plovers, at least 1 spotted redshank, 2 ruff, a greenshank, 10 dunlins, 6 green sandpipers, a curlew sandpiper, a curlew, 8 ringed plovers, c200 lapwings and then 3 pintails plus another 10 passing over ..
A common buzzard was see over the reedbeds and from the Bittern Hide were a kestrel (with lunch), large numbers of swallows and house martins and finally a peregrine which was causing havoc among a small group of magpies !
An osprey was seen passing over and heading towards Broomhill Flash at 9:50 approx ..
Over on Edderthorpe were 27 golden plovers, a black-tailed godwit, lapwings, mute swans, 3 swallows, 2 house martins and bullfinches .. Sadly no news today on the American golden plover but fingers crossed it may not have gone too far ... Mind you, it breeds on the high Arctic tundra of Alaska and Canada and then winters in the grasslands of central and southern South America.so it could be anywhere now !!
Have a great evening everyone !!
