Why not join us this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm at Old Moor, for a 40 minute talk, 'q&a' session and a spot of shopping in our fantastic visitor centre?!
We are lucky enough to have a visit from Mark Avery, who is coming to visit us, talk about his new book "Fighting for Birds" - 25 years in nature conservation. As always, he will provide a lively and informed talk and no doubt trigger a few thoughts and questions of your own, to follow!

Mark worked for the RSPB for 25 years until standing down in April 2011 to go freelance. He was the RSPB’s Conservation Director for nearly 13 years. He writes for BirdWatch and BBC Wildlife magazines, has his own blog where he comments on environmental issues, conservation, wildlife issues and continues to marvel at the wonders of the natural world.
Mark will be happy to sign a copy of his book, which you can buy on the day of the talk - you'll be helping to support Old Moor too, by buying through our shop! :)
Reviewing the book, Michael McCarthy, environment editor, Independent newspaper, said: "Dr Avery, now Britain’s premier wildlife blogger, was thus at the very heart of all the conservation and wildlife protection battles of recent times, from windfarms to persecution of birds of prey by landowners. Indeed, he was a prime mover in many of them, and his spiky and opinionated account – there are quite a few people he doesn’t like – is not only immensely instructive, but gripping."
So why not add an interesting talk, read, chat and bit of shopping to your relaxing visit to the reserve this Sunday? Please ring the Visitor Centre to book a place, as they are limited to just 30! Tel. 01226 751593.
