A little bit of bad news first - one of the steps up to Swale hide has broken and so until we're able to replace it, we've had to close the hide. Hopefully the replacement step will be installed in the next day or two.
The 2 immature spoonbills were again on the Swale this afternoon, although you had to walk all the way to Spitend hide to see them! They were being pushed towards the Harty Hill area on the rising tide.Other waders included 2 green sandpiper, 1 spotted redshank, 700 dunlin, 143 avocet, 90 grey plover, 3 knot & a bar-tailed godwit. There were also 35 great crested grebes on the Swale.2 peregrines were hunting around the Flood in the afternoon & 2 rock pipits were by Swale hide.
