....actually it wasn't. You know those times when you glimpse something unfamiliar and your immediate reaction is to think it must be the rarest thing ever? Well you won't be surprised to hear that the large flying creature with vivid red underwings that I flushed from a fence post this morning wasn't actually a Wallcreeper (we can all dream). Turns out it wasn't even a hawkmoth...so apologies to those people who I told it might be. It was actually a Red Underwing. A large moth that occasionaly flies during the day. It went to roost on the cattle pen at the top of Redshale Road so it might still be around if you are quick.
This cracking Southern Hawker (pictured) has been in residence around the pond dipping area for the past few days. I got this shot of him as he basked in the morning sunshine.
A few lucky people saw an Osprey fly over this morning. I hope to be able to post a picture of it tomorrow.
